Most of the population in Oxford is made of students and young people. It is therefore obvious that there are very many different entertainment venues and spots in the city. In term of music, the city is very rich in classical music. There are a variety of classical concerts going on almost every day especially in the college chapels and concert halls. There are also a variety of clubs and venues for listening to live music. One of the most adored and famous music venues is the Carling Academy Oxford located on Cowley Road. However, there also exist numerous, busy and entertaining night clubs like the Coven II on Oxpens Road which is a very large venue shaped like a cave. Here you can listen to techno and house music in the state of the art sound system.
Other nightclubs include the Filth located at Westgate Center (a popular venue for students), Lava & Ignite where you can listen to five different music genres in the various rooms and The Bridge. All these clubs house very big name DJs that will rock you till morning. There is also a good number of Cinemas in Oxford. The most famous is Odeon Cinemas which has two branches, one in Magdalen Street and the other in George Street. Both have very large big screens and show recently released films and blockbusters. Other cinema venues are The Phoenix Picture House on Walton Street and The Ultimate Picture Palace on Jeune Street.
Oxford boasts of having very many theatres where people can watch live plays. There are three very common theatres although very many others exist. The three located in Central Oxford are The Oxford Playhouse which hosts Oxford University production, The New Theatre which is common for touring artists or stand up comedians and The Burton-Taylor Studio common for small student plays and small theatre houses. These are just but a few entertainment spots in Oxford. Very many more will be found if you visit the town.
